How to make ankara bead necklace

Apart from being a lover of good food, am crazy in love with crafts. Bead and Ankara crafts.. I find it hard to control myself when am surrounded by beads and Ankara fabrics. Over the years,I have developed an undying love for them. Am going to share something with you today. I have come up with a DIY Tutorial on how to make your very own Ankara bead necklace (I made a bracelet for this tutorial).

So let's get started, shall we? For this project,we will need: Fabric, big beads, scissors, needle and thread.

Let's start by cutting our fabric into a strip.

Sew the two sides together with the back of the fabric in view because you would still have to turn the fabric inside out after sewing. This is done to hide the thread used in sewing.

After sewing, turn the fabric inside out. Like this

Done that already? Let's move on. Start pushing your beads into the fabric like so

The number of beads used depends on what you have in mind to do. If you are making a necklace, you would need more beads than I used for this tutorial.

Get your thread ready for our next step. Be extra careful, this involves alot of tying and it should be done tightly.

So there you have it, I hope you make the most out of this tutorial.

How to do stuff: Make Virgin Coconut oil

When it comes to skin care and looking fabulous, I keep an open mind. Last week, My friend advised me to try coconut oil for my face. I had cracks and pimples all over my face and was becoming self conscious. I decided to give it a try but am money conscious as well. Getting ready-made coconut oil around is expensive and the chances that it has been mixed with something is high. I made mine and I will share the procedure. You will need
1. Coconuts (I used 3 for that)
2. Water (3 cups)
3. 2 bowls
4. A sieve
5. A grater
6. A transparent container since its your first try.
7. Saucepan.
Break your coconut and remove from its shell. Tutorials all over the internet has it that you need just the meat (The white part). Use a grater, you could use a blender but I would advise you use a grater. Its stressful but it helps you get all the milk out. After grating all d coconut into a bowl, Pour a cup of water. Wash the grated coconut and sieve the milk into the second bowl.Repeat this till the coconut flakes becomes tasteless.
Sieve the milk into the transparent container and leave in a dark place to ferment. I put mine in a bucket and covered it up. Leave it for 24 hours.

You would notice the curd got separated from the water. Scoop out the curd with a spoon. Turn your curd into a saucepan and lower the heat. You would notice the curd sticking to the bottom of the pan and your oil at the top. Voila. Leave your oil to cool and pour into your bottle.

You see, this post isn't for the ladies alone. Coconut oil has medicinal uses, Its no news that it is used for cooking in some households. It is used for cuticle care and skin as well as hair treatment causing hair growth and giving it that lush look. Coconut oil gets rid of stretch marks and act as a moisturizer. Mix it with sugar or salt to exfoliate.

I use lime on my face to get rid of the pimples (don't leave it on for too long to avoid face burn), after which I apply the oil. Be sure to massage every part of your face.

Am so happy I tried coconut oil, You should too.
